My favorite movie

A movie I really love is «The end of the affair» with the amazing actor Ralph Fiennes. This movie really touches me every single time. It’s based on the book by Graham Greene, and the language is completely beautiful. It’s a love story, around World War 2, and the main character, Beatrix, is a writer and the one that says the story. His love story. The feelings to the whole movie are very intense and the playing by Ralph Fiennes, touching and heart-breaking. The movie is focused to the emotions between Beatrix and his girl, her relationship with her husband and Beatrix and finally, even the friendship between the husband and Beatrix. Is how important a promise can be, how hard it hurts when you break it and how God is the ruler to all this. The whole movie is a message to God, from Beatrix and the pain he lives after his loss.
«I hate you God, I hate you like you actually existed»

The greatest showman
The greatest showman is a brand new musical about a boy who had dreams and he would do everything to achieve them.First of all he belonged to a poor family but he fell in love with a rich girl and he managed to marry her and had a family. However, his big dream was to build a circus,so he gathered many people with strange traits(a woman with beard,an albino etc) and made them fell confident and special .People didnt like them in the begining and they were very racist...but as the story continues they accept them...Finally this movie has many inspirational songs and spreads amazing vibes. The stars of the movie are Hugh Jackman,Zac Efron and Zandaya...DONT MISS IT!!

I am going to talk to you not about a movie but my favourite series which is   called Stranger Things.  It has got 2 seasons and I had finished it in a little while. It is a science fiction movie related more to teenagers like us. At first I didn't like that kind of movies and series and I thought that I would not like it but I was wrong.  It is very interesting and keeps you in an agony about what is going to happen next. Maybe some scenes scared me only a bit but it is worth it and I don't want to tell you more, so I suggest you watch this now! Trust me!

I like this film because it has scenes with intense action and beautiful soundtrack. Also, it's full of imagination and makes you feel like you're in the movie. In addition, it keeps you on the edge of the chair and i'm very keen on to this kind of movies. "The maze runner" is a very nice movie and I suggest you to see it too.

The Shining is a movie based on the so called book by Stephen King and is directed by the well-reputed Stanley Kubrick. It is about a man, Jack Torrence (Jack Nickolson) who gets a winter job as a caretaker at the Overlook hotel, a hotel placed at a very isolated area which is not accessible in the winter due to the great mass of snow covering the place. He plans to bring his wife Wendy (Shelley Duvall) and his 6-year-old son Danny (Danny Lloyd). The hotel owners narrates a massacre story to him that took place a few years ago about a family like his who spent the winter there and the father ended up killing them with an axe and then commiting suicide. That story did not deter him from spending the winter there, he even believed that his wife would be fascinated by the terrifying background of the hotel. However, as one would imagine, everything went wrong. The events climax with Jack chasing Wendy and Danny with an axe trying to murder them. I believe that it portrays perfectly the way that one individual who might seem balanced and responsible can get so paranoid when in isolation as much as to try to kill his family.

Music in our lives

Vasiliki wrote:
”So, what kind of music do you listen to?”. This is one of the most common
questions in the world yet a special one. Music affects us us in many different ways. For
example, if some random person you just met asks you that question it’s probably
because he/she is interested in you and your personal life. It might also affect the way
some people see you. Sometimes you might argue with someone over music. Strange
isn’t it?
The majority of teenagers and young adults listens to english pop music. As the
person grows his/her mentality changes too. This can result in his taste in music to
change too. For instance, adults and middle aged people mostly prefer traditional music
or music they used to listen when they were young. Others prefer classical music
because it calms them down and relaxes them.
One of the drawbacks of music is that many people tend to judge new and/or
“underground” kinds of music. As an example, someone might make fun of you if you
like Japanese Vocaloid or K-pop music. Also, they might feel disgusted if you like rap or
lo-fi hip hop.
In the end though, you are who you are and the way you see someone isn’t based
solely on the kind of music he/she listens to. Almost everyone has different taste in
music but that doesn’t prevent them from being friends with others.

The first thing I would change...

I personally feel that schools here in Greece have many problems with their buildings and their educational system but I would like to focus on some of them. Initially, there aren’t many yards for sports generally speaking places for gymnastics. Futhermore, I wish we had more technology equipment like more advanced computers and microscopes and projectors. Finally, some classes don't have air conditioning equipment and in the summer they are very hot.
As for the educational system, we should take less exams in the end of the school year and our responsibilities for school should finished at school and not at home.

Solutions
We can save money so we can support our school with these equipments and our country should have that in mind because education is very important part of our lives .Last but not least , we should have some specifics hours at school that we can finish our homework .

Αt my school I would really like to change the quality of its amenities. I mean I am dreaming of a school like in foreign countries. Schools in other countries are so well-organised and are wonderful inside and outside. I would also want to change the formation of the lessons, since we are many children at a classroom and the lessons are always interrupted unreasonably.

Aggeliki wrote:
So, the first thing I would like, to change if I had the chance, in the education system of my school is the way and the methods of the lessons in each subject. It could be a lot easier and more interesting if we did not had to learn all these things and instead, just  few of them that are more significant and more useful. Another thing I don't like is the system with the exams. It is too much for the kids and too stressful.  Some of the teens have  serious psycological problems during the period of the examinations. And because of that, most of them do not come off as they wanted to and that is so disappointed because they will have to study again and be examined again and that is TOO much.

School is the place where students spend ⅓ of their days in. Even though the country tries to optimize the educational system, some alterations still need to be made to make it better. I believe that a minor change that would make everything better is making breaks longer. With 5 or 10 minutes maximum the programme gets too heavy for the students. They want to eat, spend time with their friends and get some rest before another 45’ of sitting behind a desk and listening to the teacher. By lengthening the recess duration by some minutes more, students will actually have the time to do what pleases them and makes them ready for the next lesson. This results in more efficient students since they are not tired from the prior lesson. Therefore, by extending breaks a little, the students get more efficient in the class, resulting in better learning conditions and concentration.

I wouldn't change much from our educational system. I would like the lessons to be more interactive. To do more projects, educational trips and have less things to learn by heart from school books.

Rafaela wrote:
I have one big problem with the educational system. As it is known,  they want us to learn many things. However, they apply pressure to us and we can't overcome this difficulty. So, the system should choose only the important lessons for us since we can learn them more easily and carefully.

Maria wrote:
There’s one thing that I’d like to change in our educational system. Our admission in universities. A big step in education would be if the students gave exams in the university of their choice. They would learn in school some general, needed information, and they would give exams in the university that they want to study. In current system, the students study more specialized information and their admission in universities depends on their grade in the exams.

As far as the educational system of Greece is concerned , I am very disappointed with this because I don't understand the reason why we must  do so many lessons in order to study what we want while in other countries at the abroad, students are engaged most (even from  gymnasium) with the lessons that they need to study and they engaged less with other lessons . If I could make a change in  educational  system of Greece I probably change the fact that we must do so many lessons to study what we want.

I would like to express my opinion about our educational system. There are things that I would like to be different such as the way we are taught. Up till now we stay until 2:00 o'clock and we get a lot of homework. I think that I would be better if we stayed longer at school but we don't take any homework and we do it all at school. We could also join in extra activities such as computer club, drama club or anything else that interests students.

In my opinion, Greece does not have the best educational system in Europe. This system has a significant number of drawbacks. One of this is that public schools are not equipped with a variety of rooms where children can exercise themselves such as swimming pools or tennis courts. Moreover, adolescents do not have the opportunity to participate in school clubs where students can be entertained. At the end I want to add that, because of the fact that we have so many extracurricular activities we have little leisure time in order to study. It would be a useful idea if we stay longer at school without taking any homework at home, but to do it at all school.

What I don't like in Greek educational system is that the hours of the lessons are not enough for us to be prepared for the Panhellenic exams. As a result students have to pay for extra courses  outside of school. So students who can afford to do so are more likely to go to university.Personally, I believe that this isn't fair for those whose families face financial problems and can not afford such a thing, especially now that our country has an economic crisis.

Pantelis wrote:
I would abolish the Panhellenic. I think they should not exist. I would suggest that everyone should enter wherever they want and along the way they would be generally change the rating process with grades.

  1. From Théo to Sofia : I love maths, physics and biology because it's important to know how the world around us is built. I find that literature is quite boring because most of the time I fall asleep when I read books and I don't care about people who lived a century ago.
From Sophie to Emmanouela : My favourite subject is maths, but the subject I hate the most is French. We have so many things to learn and I don't understand most of the time.
From Jules to Rafaela : I see what you mean about maths but I am good at it and I think it's easy to understand. And I love gym too, I totally agree with you when you say it's a way to spend time.
